Hi all,

I've been using lprng on a solaris 7 machine for over a year. A few
weeks ago we did 2 things. First, we bought a new server (still running
solaris 7, but a 64 bit machine). Second, we bought a new printer (a
lexmark Optra T614, replacing an Lexmark Optra RN+).

When we upgraded the server, I did not recompile lprng, I just moved the
binary and config file over from the old server (as I did with most
other programs with no problem).

Even since then the print queue would stall and the printer would lock
up (not respond to pings, telnet... the printer menus would not even
work). The only way to fix this is to cycle the power on the printer,
and then the queue would pick up right where it left off.

There were also a bunch of Mac desktops printing to this printer. I
redirected the unix queue to another printer and just left the macs on
the new one and they printed fine. As soon as I put the lprng queue back
on the printer, the locking up came back.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the printer, or with lprng, but I've
been on the phone with lexmark for a week now and have replaced several
parts in the printer and it still doesn't work. So I thought I'd ask you
guys if you have seen this before and if maybe it's a problem with the
print server.

Hope someone has some ideas.

Thanks.
