My configuration:
server - lprng installed on solaris 7 system, original printing removed
client - solaris, original print software
When I do on the server
server:/home/chris>lpq -P lp1
Printer: lp1@server 'hp4050'
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Filter_status: (of) done at 20:48:37.248
But on the client:
client:/home/chris>lpq -P lp1
Printer: lp1@server 'hp4050'
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Filter_status: (of) using model 'hp4050' at 18:22:15.244
Filter_status: (of) pagecount using 'pjl info pagecount' at 18:22:15.266
Filter_status: (of) setting up printer at 18:22:15.267
Filter_status: (of) starting OF mode passthrough at 18:22:15.300
Filter_status: (of) getting sync using 'pjl echo' at 18:22:15.302
Filter_status: (of) sync done at 18:22:16.931
Filter_status: (of) pagecounter 997 at 18:22:16.982
Filter_status: (of) pagecounter 997 at 18:22:16.983
Filter_status: (of) OF process suspending at 18:22:16.990
Filter_status: using model 'hp4050' at 18:22:17.592
Filter_status: pagecount using 'pjl info pagecount' at 18:22:17.613
Filter_status: setting up printer at 18:22:17.615
Filter_status: getting sync
My printcap on server:
lp1|hp4050 :\
:lp=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx%9100 :\
:ifhp=model=hp4050 :\
:filter=/usr/local/libexec/filters/ifhp :\
:if=/usr/local/libexec/filters/ifhp :\
:of=/usr/local/libexec/filters/ifhp :\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp4050
The Filter_status is retarded, the printer is doing quite different
things, because
server:/var/spool/lpd/lp1>tail status
pagecounter 1017 at 20:48:33.252
pagecounter 1017, pages 1 at 20:48:33.255
done at 20:48:33.258
(of) OF process running at 20:48:33.277
(of) getting end using 'pjl job/eoj' at 20:48:33.283
(of) end of job detected at 20:48:35.396
(of) pagecounter 1017 at 20:48:37.241
(of) pagecounter 1017, pages 1 at 20:48:37.244
(of) ending OF mode passthrough at 20:48:37.247
(of) done at 20:48:37.248
Why I have this info? It does not appear on lprng clients.
It seems that the client receives just the beginning of status
file. Should it be cleared (the status) after a finished job?
Also, please advice me what can we do with passing the Z options
from standard solaris lpr/lpd command to lprng server.
I have little experience with (horrible) solaris print system.
I asked on this some time before.
Thanks.
With regards,
