AIX Networking (telnet/printing) Delay of One Minute
Question:
When I print via lpr or telnet from AIX there is a delay of almost
exactly one minute before the print job appears or
the telnet session connects. What may be causing this?
Answer:
If DNS is not set up correctly on the host it can take one minute to
time out. If you're using the printserver's host name instead of it's
IP address in your configuration and if there is some problem with
DNS
you could see a 60 second delay when printing. AIX does a reverse
lookup on DNS requests that can take 60 seconds to time out.
Please check DNS is configured correctly on the host.
