The same happens in Linux in our situation, even with host.conf set to
"order hosts". All hostnames are properly defined within /etc/hosts, yet
DNS is still used to resolve names. Is there something I'm overlooking
here to avoid DNS lookups?
The timeout there is on the order of 2 minutes, by the way. When you have
1,000 invoices waiting to print it hurts...especially when a 1 hour print
job becomes 12 hours.
For the moment, I did set up a basic nameserver to handle this, but it's
inefficient in our case, and for some reason management has an adversity
to an internal DNS server.
Thanks,
Brad Hartin
