Yes, I tried that... I thought I had it fixed last week, but today it's
acting up again. At this point, I'm 100% convinced that the printer
either has some flaky hardware, or has been possessed by an evil entity
bent on enslaving humanity. The printer accepts the queue name 'raw'
from Macintosh LPD, when it accepts connections on port 515 at all -
today it seems to have quit accepting LPD connections entirely, although
appletalk printing seems to be working OK. Also, it has irrevocably put
itself into "sales" mode, where the buttons flash, and it prints out
demo pages if you press them. It used to accept telnet connections and
put you into a text-based configuration utility, but that quit working.
Now, when you connect to it via telnet it just repeatedly prints out
REDRUM... REDRUM... REDRUM... REDRUM... REDRUM... REDRUM... REDRUM...
REDRUM... REDRUM... I'm not sure whether to call Apple support or an
exorcist. Wait, Apple support must have a few exorcists on hand, so I
guess I should call them. Thanks for your time!
