Hmm.  If you can connect to port 9100 at all, it probably has an
internal JetDirect card for its network functions.  Knowing nothing
about this printer, I'd say RTFM.  Go to HP if necessary.  But at a
guess the *best* you're likely to find is some way, from the front
panel, to reset the JD (or the whole printer?) to original factory
settings, in which case you lose all the configuration.  (Obviously,
you want to start by printing the entire configuration if you're going
to do that.)  But just maybe there's a way, from the front panel, to
turn off the password on the JD.

And, obviously, document the password *somewhere* when you get it changed.

One other stray thought: have you tried telnetting to port 9100?  My
experience with JDs is that this is a reasonable way to test their
function, though if the printer is expecting postscript that may not
be true.  I telnet to port 9100, type in 20 or so lines of garbage
(making sure to do both carriage return & newline each line), and then
close the telnet connection, & it comes out.  But again, I haven't had
to deal with postscript.
