I have a simple queue designed to send Text files to a simple (but rugged) text printer. After sending just a few jobs to the spooler I get the following errors: Jan 18 15:42:48 Elvis (Server)[5639]: lp2: Open_gdbm: cannot lock 'db.lp2' - Interrupted system call Jan 18 15:48:50 Elvis (Server)[5834]: lp2: Open_gdbm: cannot lock 'db.lp2' - Interrupted system call There are a significant number of errors when the jobs are sent immediately (full speed) to the spooler. The terrible thing is that when artificial delays are installed in the process the number of errors become less frequent. I am currently testing a 10 second delay between jobs. Why do I need to wait so long to send a new jobs to the Queue? Btw, the printing is local to the server. DNS is fully operational. I just updated gdb (before sending this Email). Other than that, I am running Linux Mandrake with a customized Kernel. The application is Infoflex Based and integrates directly to an Informix based database. Any Ideas? -- Albert E.
