sorry to ask the lprng group this, but...

I have to hp printers giving regular eio errors.  an hp4000tn and an
hp4500c.  both are using jetdirect.  I checked hp's web site for the eio
error number 82 xxxx and it said that the jet direct card is probably
bad...  I find that hard to beleive that two different jet direct cards
could be going bad.  both of these were plugged onto a linksys 10/100
etherswitch.  eio errors were spurious to start with.  now they are
regular.  i've removed the hp4500 from the etherswitch and plugged it
directly to a share 10 mbt segment.  since then, I only had on eio error
on it. 

could a malformed ethernet frame causing this?  too many 802.2/3 frames
instead of ethernetII?  Any idea's where to begin to shoot this trouble?
