Hi all,

I'm new to this list - and am hoping someone out there might just have a
solution to a problem I'm having...

I'm running Redhat 7 on a Tosh laptop - having recently upgraded from
RH6.2. As soon as I did the upgrade I discovered that the laptop would
not boot properly because of LPRng - each time the boot up process got
to lpd the machine would hang - forcing me to have to physically switch
it off...

Doing an interactive boot up I was able to disable LPRng (the lpd daemon
part) and the problem was solved... Interestingly enough there is no
problem when I start LPRng manually thus: /etc/rc.d/init.d/lpd start...

Having solved this problem I *also* discovered that my fax software
(fax2send 2.1) was no longer working properly...

At this stage (well, after experimenting with a lot of other things) I
decided to get out my Redhat 6.2 CD and install the old version of lpd
(bsd?) that comes with Redhat 6.2 - and now find that the fax software
works fine and all is well...

If anyone has had similar problems or has any idea at all as to what
might be wrong I'd really like to know...

Thanks in advance,

John.
