>From what I've read on the list archives and HOWTO pages, you can't expect
to get status or pagecounts over a Parallel port. I've tried with a
HP4000N with the same results.
If you get a network card for the printer, then it should definitely work
- a JetDirect 600N in the Hp works great for me.
