But I tried what you said and still:

 connecting to '192.168.0.8', attempt 1
 cannot open connection to 192.168.0.8 - Connection refused
Make sure LPD server is running on the server
matrix:/home/neo#

Please also note that I am able to print from any other windows m/c or redhat m/c 
without modifying any entry at the printer m/c.
Also I checked , the printer in shared publicily on the LAN.
