hello all,

I have looked at the FAQ and the documentation and can't seem tofind
what I want to do.

I know that you can set LPDEST or use the -P option to print directly to
another LPR spool.

I am trying to set up something similar in the printcap file.

I want to have about 50 printers available from different linux
machines.

my question is: can i have the printer name be "printer" instead of
"printer@host" and must I use a spool directory for each printer/

I have tried the following line in printcap:

lp:\
:lp=printer@host:

but it complains about there not being a spool directory. i can put
":client:" in the entry but then the printer doesn't exist after
restarting lprng

i just want a printqueue that automatically forwards to another lpd
spool without any filters, do I have to use a spool directory in this
case?

Sincerely,
Jason Edgecombe
