Maybe the Jetdirect card is not configured correctly or it has a
problem.
I would connect the printer parallel port to an external printserver
box (Linksys or Intel - configured with the same IP address as the HP
Jetdirect card ) to see if the  HP printer still behavies the same or
improves.

   There must be some explanation. The office is remote so
its hard to do anything there. But since the Jetdirect card
is more or less the same as in other printers i have around
here, what could be the problem? 20MB should be enough for
small print jobs.
