On the freeware side of things, you are generally stuck with either papd under Netatalk, or using LPD desktop printers. > I need to add support for a few os9 macintosh machines, but I need > to have a login name and hostname passed, which login names are not > present in os9. Odds are you will not be able to get a hostname via Netatalk. Your best bet would be to setup LPD printers via Apple's "Desktop Printer Utility." Enticing users to set the owner name under Mac OS to the username you want to see in unix land left as excercise to reader. -- Jeremy Mates http://www.sial.org/ OpenPGP: 0x11C3D628 (4357 1D47 FF78 24BB 0FBF 7AA8 A846 9F86 11C3 D628) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- YOU MUST BE A LIST MEMBER IN ORDER TO POST TO THE LPRNG MAILING LIST The address you post from MUST be your subscription address If you need help, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or lprng-requests or lprng-digest-requests) with the word 'help' in the body.
