Hey, most of the time *I* can't duplicate it, either.  It's very sporadic.
And for the moment I'm done testing the thing that was turning it up,
so it may be a while.  But when & if I see it again, I'll call.
(The current machine is only in here for setup & a bit of development.
One of the things being developed (by <sigh> me) is some hacks to
partially emulate SYSV lp/lpsched forms-management stuff, allowing
printing of alignment patterns ad lib when the forms are first mounted,
special setup to the printer of page length etc. on each job for a form,
etc.)

Actually, I was just going to rip^H^H^Hcomment out all the calls to set
the message.  I had thought it would be nice to tell anyone doing lpq on
the printer what was happening, but it's not really necessary - and when
the printer still says it's aligning long after those forms have been
dismounted, that's a problem.
