Most mysterious.

You have added a whole new page, if not a chapter, to the wierd problems
on Solaris.

The 'no permission to print' message is the result of the call to
Check_print_perms() failing.  In order to tell you why,  I would have
to see the lpd.perms file.

However,  I have found a very amusing thing (ho ho ho):  if your DNS
server is unavailable or the DNS information is corrupted,  then the
DNS lookups done by this routine will fail AND you will get this message.

Hope this helps a bit. It is the only thing I can think of.

The problem here is that DNS can fail simply because the host does not
have a DNS entry...  which is reasonable for some folks...
