Sometimes rendering to PS Level 1 rather than PS Level 2 (or vice versa) will make the document print. Other times users must use gv/gs/pdf2ps/etc. or xpdf to do the rendering. Still other documents flat out will not print at all. This using GS 7.03, xpdf 1.0 and acroread 4.05 (latest Linux/Solaris release).
