I've run across this one regularly when printing to HP LaserJets...

I suspect it's usually a font-related problem when it happens here.  Sometimes 
rendering to PS Level 1 rather than PS Level 2 (or vice versa) will make the document 
print.  Other times users must use gv/gs/pdf2ps/etc. or xpdf to do the rendering.  
Still other documents flat out will not print at all.

This using GS 7.03, xpdf 1.0 and acroread 4.05 (latest Linux/Solaris release).

I recommend changing the PS Level in acroread first, then move to other PDF processors.
