Sure.  You have too many open files.  :-)

You don't say if you're running checkpc as yourself or as root, and
it may not matter -- if it's setuid root and you've set some user like
"daemon" as the default user for LPRng, it is likely using that.

In any case, either the user that LPRng runs as *or* the system in general
is running out of file descriptors.  If you're only seeing this message
out of LPRng, it's likely a problem for the user LPRng runs as.

If you see this problem when doing other things on the system (like when
you type `ls' at your shell prompt), you're likely out of system wide
processes.

In either case, you need to find a way to up the number of file
descriptors that are available.

You didn't say what version of LPRng you're using, and you also didn't
say what OS and version using running it on.  That means that I can't
provide any more info than what I already have.
