Hello,

We are experiencing an unusual problem with our Xerox 7700 printer. When we print large jobs to it via LPRng, the printer will hang at page 192 and require clearing a jam and a power cycle to recover. When this happens, the hardware pagecount is NOT updated, so not only is the user inconvenienced but we cannot bill for the pages already printed. Xerox does not have any insight into this problem. When we print via lpr (as opposed to appsocket) or use the tektcp command line utility (port 9100) the problem does not occur. We have tried two different combinations: Solaris 2.6/LPRng 3.5.3/ifhp 2.2.8 and Solaris 2.8/LPRng 3.8.15/ifhp 3.5.10 on two different hosts.

Has anyone else seen a similar problem? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks much,

Al
