Dear Al,

This sounds like a potential filtering problem caused by the LPRng
configuration selected. By this, I mean that a question is asked by LPRng of
the Xerox 7700 printer at page 192 and either no answer or an unrecognized
answer is received by the LPRng software in return from the Xerox 7700.
Would it be possible for you to post your LPRng configuration for sending
data to this particular printer to the list?

Best Regards,

/Paul

>We are experiencing an unusual problem with our Xerox 7700 printer. When we
print large jobs to it via LPRng, the printer >will hang at page 192 and
require clearing a jam and a power cycle to recover. When this happens, the
hardware pagecount is >NOT updated, so not only is the user inconvenienced
but we cannot bill for the pages already printed. Xerox does not have >any
insight into this problem. When we print via lpr (as opposed to appsocket)
or use the tektcp command line utility (port >9100) the problem does not
occur. We have tried two different combinations: Solaris 2.6/LPRng
3.5.3/ifhp 2.2.8 and Solaris >2.8/LPRng 3.8.15/ifhp 3.5.10 on two different
hosts.
