G'day.
I have an out-of-box installation of RedHat 8.0 using LPRng. I have recently (last thursday) migrated to this from Sco OpenServer 5.0.6.
I print a whole mess of reports all day long. These reports are generated from a bunch of smaller files which are concatenated together.
The first thing I noticed about this printing is that a Postscript overlay file that used to load fine from SCO fails to load under RH. I am sure this is something to do with teh overlay itself, as I have created an ultimately basic OL file and it loaded just fine. (I add this detail for completeness. I suspect it *might* have something to do with what is going on, but I'm not entirely sure. I presently still have a Sco server on the network which I am using to load the overlay)
What is going on that is causing me great problem at the moment is that my printjobs fail to print duplex. What is more, when I attempt to print the reports that belong on my pre-header-printed stationary it somehow turns the page over and prints on the wrong side.
Confusing me further is that when I print the individual files, before they get concatenated, they print out duplex and on the correct side respectively. IE, totally fine.
What I was hoping to do was to insert a filter somehow so that while it sends these jobs to the printer, it also prints out what is being sent off there to a file which I could hexdump to check out what is going on. (I suspect funny interpretations of linefeeds and page breaks or something like that) But I couldn't see how to accomplish this an any of the FAQs that I came across, nor in any of the man pages I looked at.
I am hopeful that someone on this list could help me troubleshoot this problem.
Thanks and regards,
nemir
