A look through dejanews didn't give me the answer I was looking for so I
will ask here. If this has been covered already I would appreciate some
direction to that coverage.
Has anyone used LPRng as a generic job spooler? What I would like to do
is have LPRng (some spooling mechanism that I don't have to write from
scratch) manage a job queue in which the jobs are database updates on a
remote machine. Since I can't use ODBC on this machine I have written
perl scripts that will perform the updates. This part is tested and works
fine. What is now needed is a spooler that will detect success/failure and
possibly resubmit X number of times at Y interval in case of network outage
or other impediment.
If anyone knows of documentation specific to using LPRng this way I would
really appreciate it (so I don't have to reinvent the wheel).
Thanks in advance,
-Tom
