Hi again! This is now the short version of my first mail. Sorry for flooding your inbox. I just updated my SUSE 7.2 box from the old lpd to lprng with suse's lprng-3.8.12-37.rpm package. Since then I can not print anymore. Of course I adapted my apsfilter and printcap. I would be very glad about any kind of help!! Thanks in advance!
Here is what happens after I use "lpr -V -Pmono a.ps": LPRng-3.8.12, Copyright 1988-2002 Patrick Powell, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> sending job '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1 connected to 'localhost' requesting printer [EMAIL PROTECTED] job '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' transfer to [EMAIL PROTECTED] failed error 'ERROR TRANSFERRING DATA' sending str '^Bmono' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] job failed - error 'ERROR TRANSFERRING DATA' sending str '^Bmono' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] " Here is my printcap entry for my usb hp dj930c in mono mode: mono|default|lp|hpijs a4 auto mono 300 draft plain both:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hpijs-a4-auto-mono-300-draft-plain-both:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/hpijs-a4-auto-mono-300-draft-plain-both/log\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/hpijs-a4-auto-mono-300-draft-plain-both/acct\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/hpijs-a4-auto-mono-300-draft-plain-both:\ :lp=/dev/usb/lp0:la@:mx#0:tr=:cl:sh:force_localhost I figured out, after plenty of googling, that a cure would be to remove "lpd: ALL EXCEPT LOCAL" from my /etc/hosts.deny. The same would of course happen if I add "lpd: unknown : ALLOW" to /etc/hosts.allow. So my localhost is somehow not identified as "LOCAL" by the lpd(tcpd??). After digging deeper I finally used "strace lpr -D2 a.ps". A short section of the important part is attached to this mail. The important rows (I do think) are write(4, "\2mono\n", 6) = -1 EPIPE (Broken pipe) --- SIGPIPE (Broken pipe) --- Any idea what I can do about it? Best regards, Stefan. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
