Hiya Henk,

I think I may not have been clear enough with this. The first part of the print job must run as simplex, then a duplex bit has to happen, and then potentially a simplex thing has to happen after that. This was working okay on the old servers, but not on the linux staging boxes.

If you're using ifhp, you can add this to the printers printcap entry:

<snip *excellent* instructions on ifhp stuff>

What is ifhp? ;-) Me 'n printing go way back, can you tell?

I am just using the RedHat 9.0 LPRng out of the box installation, so will be using the /usr/share/printconf/util/jetdirectprint file, as far as i am aware.

We load a postscript overlay onto the printers, and I could get functions added to that without too much stress I believe. Perhaps I could/should take this to a postscript list? Does anyone know where I might find one?

Btw. if you need this for level 2 PS change the echoed lines to:

What is level 2 PS?

(echo "%!
%%BeginFeature: *Duplex False
statusdict /setduplexmode known {
statusdict begin false setduplexmode end
} if
%%EndFeature"; /bin/cat $tempfile)

I have just picked up the Adobe Postscript Language Reference, 3rd edition, but at this stage it seems a little beyond me.

Thanks again for your help.
