Well... I'm not the pro here -- there are other people on the list that can probably
better help. These are just my guesses:

Try adding "ACCEPT SERVICE=R FORWARD" to lpd.perms

Make sure LPD can bind to priviledged ports on both machines (TCP 515), LPD on the
client might be binding to a non-priviledged port
and LPD on the server might be getting pissy about it... check the documentation for
the behavior of LPD. I think by default it
accepts connections from non-priviledged ports but your distribution may have changed
that in lpd.conf somewhere?

Try slapping a simple printcap on your client machine (with just a lp:[EMAIL
PROTECTED]) and just set it up for remote printing to
the server, disable the "default_remote_host" flag in lpd.conf on the client. Make
sure both machine have force_localhost set (it
should be the default unless it was changed at compile time by the person that made
your package)

Also, I don't know if this is a typo or maybe the source of all your problems really
is this simple: in the error message that you
put in your original post note that it reports that it cannot make a remote connection
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- note the hostname is "p1"
not "pt1". Maybe you've got a goof somewhere?

Good luck.

YOU MUST BE A LIST MEMBER IN ORDER TO POST TO THE LPRNG MAILING LIST
The address you post from MUST be your subscription address

If you need help, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or lprng-requests
or lprng-digest-requests) with the word 'help' in the body. For the impatient,
to subscribe to a list with name LIST, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
with: | example:
subscribe LIST <mailaddr> | subscribe lprng-digest [EMAIL PROTECTED]
unsubscribe LIST <mailaddr> | unsubscribe lprng [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you have major problems, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word
LPRNGLIST in the SUBJECT line.
