Patrick, I have no client printcap and no client-lpd running, but I'll attach servers printcap:
hp2250sys:\
:rm=192.6.1.67:\ #hp2250sys
:rp=mp:\
:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp:\
:ifhp=model=pcl
:incoming_control_filter= -$ /usr/lib/filters/classA.sh $Z:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/hp4200stg:\
:force_localhost:\
:mx=0:\
:sh:
Server goes with 3.8.12, client with 3.8.22.
Not enough, that the filters aren't processed I get a printed output like this:
User: root
Host: host.domain
Class: A
Job: /etc/resolv.conf
Strange, because the datafile is okay...
Thanks for your time
stg

You may need: # force clients to send to remote server lp:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:force_localhost@ # this entry, on the print server system, sends to the # remote printer lp:server:lp=real.printer.destination :sd=... :filter=... (or :if=....) This forces all clients to send requests to the server host, rather than to the printer. If you want to run an LPD server on all client systems, change this to: # force clients to send to localhost and local LPD server # to remote server lp:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:force_localhost :sd=.... # this can be added so that only the LPD server that does # the actual connection to the printer will see it: lp:oh=server.ip.address.or.dns.name:lp=real.printer.destination :sd=... :filter=... (or :if=....) The mind boggles at the number of permutations...
