just relized something right after i sent that email. sorry. I think I can invoke the smbclient on the redhat machine to send windows client popup message.
not sure if that's doable because i am not sending msg from the samba PDC server. there gotta be some rule for this. otherwise, i can harass everyoen on the network with a winpopup message. :) i will consult the smbclient man page to confirm. btw, is this what you mean, Chris ?
