what happens if you use a file intead a device ?

I can confirm that I can see the printers from windows, can send jobs to them, and if I look in /tmp I see the spooled file appear for a second and then disappear as if it is printing. Forgive me for not been too sure about the software, but am I right in thinking that I just create a queue, or in this case a TCP socket using LPRNGTool and then add it to the Samba config, or do I need to do something special when I add the printer?
