I've been using this printer as JetDirect successfully for some 2 years.
Recently I moved to Debian (Sid), where Lprng is available.
With Lprngtool I could set and activate the other printers, but not that
LaserJet 5N for Postscript (ASCII-testpage is okay).
Under the RedHat Print-tool I had set the printer to
LaserJet 5P; with ljet4 as driver.
In Lprngtool, I tried several other settings, like hp5m, hp5p, hp5l,
hp4l (the 5N is not mentioned in Lprngtool); without success (always a
lot of pages is spewed out of the printer with some
&!PS-Adobe-2.0
%%Title: testpage-a4.fig
on the first page.)
Finally, I found the ljet4 back as pcl_gs:
"HP Laserjet 4 PCL only printer, Generic PCL 5 Use Ghostscript (device
ljet4) for PostScript support"
Unfortunately, this driver does *not* work, neither !
Any hint how to make it print will be appreciated !
