You can brute force it if you don't mind losing
track of pretty much everything BUT you do get paper
with marks on it out the other end.
Something along the lines of this is wince-inducing
but does work in the case of lprng on "dead" being
down, "remote" having a similar printing setup and
networking still up. Exact directory locations will vary.
The idea is the output is sitting there in df* files
so all you have to do is print them on a queue attached
to a sufficiently similar printer.
If you are in even worse shape, "nc" (netcat) can often get
the file into the printer but that is even uglier.
===========================================================
dead% /etc/init.d/lprng stop
remote% mkdir /tmp/pbuffer
Then, for each queue: alice, bozo, cary, david, etc:
dead% scp /var/spool/lpd/alice/df* remote:/tmp/pbuffer
remote% lpr -Palice /tmp/pbuffer/df*
Verify printing happened
remote% rm -rf /tmp/pbuffer/df*
dead% rm /var/spool/lpd/alice/df* /var/spool/lpd/alice/cf*
Go to next printer until done.
