Helmut,
Not sure if this is a possibility for you. You could configure a small
CUPS print server that simply forwards the prints on to your standard
LPRng server. In CUPS, you can create printers that are LPRng print
queues. Maplesoft would send to the CUPS printer and then be routed
through to LPRng. Just a thought.

I've checked with Maplesoft.com and it's true that current
and probably future versions of Maple can't print with LPRng
on a Unix machine. So I am in need of a simple CUPS->LPRng gateway in
Perl or Python which fakes CUPS.
