I agree! It would be best for all packages to build from the sources. This 
ensures reproducibility of the build, easier compatibilty for including 
packages in distributions, and as you suggest, the possibility to include 
patches.

However, it's already great to have a package, even if it is built from 
compiled files :)

By the way, if you need to add patches to your package, could they not simply 
be incorporated in LSC main versions?

It would be nice to be able to install LSC via a RPM on RHEL/CentOS/etc. This 
issue is to track work on the subject.
