Ray,
What sort of performance we can expect from gpfs for
small files? I worry about the metadata overhead.
Specifically, since we are going to use gpfs as a way
to "move" files from pipeline host to data ingest host
and it is for real time alerts, I would be interested
to know how long it takes to write a 10 KB file and
move it to another directory.

FYI, GPFS is what we use on Teragrid, though probably not this version.
