Don, Arun, Now that we have reasonable bottom-up numbers for the size of our database, we need to incorporate these number into our infrastructure cost estimates. The analysis can be found in Collection-413 of docushare in a Excell document called "LSST Database Storage Estimates" (Document-1779).
For the deep, long-term storage requirements, look at the last page, "DRSize", and the last column giving the total storage costs of all releases over ten years (once every six months). For on-line storage requirements--that is, storage for active database access--consider that we plan to keep on-line the last 2 official releases plus the latest pre-release version. (Did I get that right?)
