Cost Estimates Monday TechAssessWG will focus on resolving cost differences between individual estimates. Need to revisit DOE proposal cost trends and how they are being applied in estimates. Ray Plante will send draft agenda, Jeff will contact Don Dossa. Also need to get Ron Lambert and Don hooked up on physical network diagram for base facility. Retraction of question to SC re community access, given the input from Kem, Tim, Kirk, others for disk I/o model. However, there is still open issue of how to handle galactic plane. Jacek will summarize assumptions used in model, Zeljko will extrapolate detection, object rates from SDSS. Tim, Jacek, Zeljko, and Kem need to get an agreed to baseline of detection and object rates, per source/object record sizes, depth into galactic plane, split star/galaxy tables, etc. so Jacek can fit into the anticipated disk space and i/o cost limitations. If necessary, then a recommendation will be made to the SC for their approval. DM Reference Design - There will be review with Bill Althouse and Don Sweeney on Tuesday, 8/22 in Tucson. We will go over the basic architecture and the sizing spreadsheets for processing, storage, and network bandwidth.
