Hello all, At Don Sweeney's telecon today, he directed that for planning purposes, we move the start of Construction phase funding out to the start of FY10 (i.e. October 1, 2009). The Construction Phase time frame remains 4 years 3 months and ends with first light and the start of commissioning/operations. This is based on feedback from the NSF and DOE that they cannot fund construction starting in FY09. Don will getting board approval for the end date change at the next board meeting and has directed us to go ahead with the change in our planning.
Given that, our infrastructure cost estimates which are based on a cost trend that declines each year for the same capability, need to be updated yet again, as all the planned acquisitions are now a year later. This should actually help our total cost, even factoring in an additional year of inflation. We will discuss this at the DM telecon tomorrow. Thanks!
