I just noticed that variable galaxies have disappeared from the DIASource. The central, variable, sources in AGN and resolved quasars will be detected via DIA. Scientist will want to study this variability by analyzing the light curves of these sources. Kirk works in this field and his estimate of 1% of galaxies containing variable nuclei seems reasonable to me. It is not a big number compared the stellar variables, but should not be forgotten.
