I reproduce the error on Debian Wheezy, but it works well on Debian
Jessie. Do you have the possibility to upgrade?
Looking to smarty code, this patch seems to fix the problem:
1/ Open /usr/share/php/smarty3/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templateparser.php
2/ Add at line 99 :
public static $prefix_number = 0;
3/ Save and close.
