Hi ! I think there is a problem with this patch. Since you call the wait_son_startup() function after the fork() and before the test on the PID variable, the father AND the son will wait on the pipe, leading to a dead-lock.
I suggest to move the wait_son_startup() calls after the pid test. Regards. R.
