We're planning to move to an LTSP environment this fall. Next month, we'll
set up a training / test lab as a trial run.
Has anyone put together a comparison of Gnome vs. KDE vs. XFCE and any other
X environments? I'm interested in issues like user-friendliness, ease to
administer, performance, memory requirements.
Personally, I don't like the appearance of the XFCE desktop. I'd rather use
Gnome or KDE. Between those two, I've found KDE more user-friendly and I
like many of the K applications, including Konqueror.
I don't know much about administering Gnome or KDE, especially for a
terminal environment. Things like menu customization, how to minimize
resource usage, how to keep the desktop simple come to mind.
Any opinions welcome!
Regards,
Gerry
