If you're worried about resource usage on the LTSP server, and don't really
need a "desktop", then I definately think FVWM2 is the way to go. If you
have programs that you want "instant" access to, then you can either create
an "app-launcher", or even use FVWM95, which has a taskbar, and I believe
you can put frequently-used apps there (it also has a *very* closwe
Win9x-like look and feel). You don't have any desktop icons, though :-(
