Pat,

Why are you using startsess to run 'start_ws' ?

The startsess was written to fix the problem with Ctrl-C not working in the
bash shell, when invoked on the console.

The start_ws script is to bring up X windows on the workstation.

If you tell me what you are trying to accomplish, maybe I can help you 
figure
out the right way to do it.
