The MARK messages are normal.  The syslogd on the workstation is 
configured to send a MARK
message every 60 minutes to indicate the workstation is still alive. 
 This probably isn't necessary.
You can edit the rc.local script and take out the '-m' arg on the 
syslogd line.

I don't have a clue what is causing your 'Can't lock' message.
