It is hard to make the workstation see its locak drives because the X windows isnt really running locally the X portion is being fed to the workstation from the servers X installation any hardware / software on the server is fully accessable as if you are on the server its self.
there is a floppy MOD that allows the floppy to be accessed locally how this works is through a server / client type connection and the floppy from the workstation is accessed remotely from the server to show the user of the workstation the floppy drive. maybe i am not clear maybe i am but it is because of the limitation that X isnt ran locally that it cant access the floppy. having not done any local apps yet i cant answer your question but maybe you can understand a little how the system works If you were to log in your workstation with NO GUI or in runlevel 3 you can access the local hardware because you are running linux locally not from the server. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan Murrell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, October 13, 2001 1:53 AM Subject: [Ltsp-discuss] Local Apps question > Hello, All. > > Just another quickie...
