Mike,

It sounds like you have an S3 video card in the machine.

At least LTSP thinks you do.

The problem is that S3 chipsets aren't supported by XFree86 4.1.0.

To use an S3 card, you need to load the older v3.3.6 S3 package.

That would be ltsp_x336_s3

Go ahead and download and install that package, and you should be fine.
