Tim, Take a look at KDM. The kdmrc file will allow you to setup entries for individual workstations, and have them automatically log in.
This question came up while I was giving a tutorial in Frankfurt, Germany. Within about 5 minutes, we had auto-login working. You turn on the workstation, it boots up and X comes up and presto, you will see KDE or Gnome or whatever window manager you want. Hope that helps, Jim McQuillan [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tim Johnston wrote: > I'm sure that that there is a need for this, but -to me surprisingly - > search and search as I might, I haven't managed to turn up a ready-made > solution. > > What I would like is that when a terminal is turned on, it will > automatically log in and authenticate as a particular user, without any > keyboard input at all, according to either the MAC or IP of the terminal.
