Thanks Michael and Dario,

This is exactly what I was looking for.  I don't care too much if it is a little 
hevier on the network - it can't be as heavy as running a full KDE (or GNOME) desktop 
environment.

Any chance one (or both) of you could elaborate a bit on what exactly is entailed in 
getting gmc, Nautilus or any other file manager that will allow icons on the desktop 
to work with IceWM?
