Dear ltsp Friends:

I have the first ltsp terminal machine up and running at our school! It
works great! Thanks to all for your suggestions and help - your ideas
made it possible (dhcp, etc)

The first machine is running successfully with an ATI video card. ltsp
detects it and runs it no problems. However, most of my machines have
S3 video, and they don't quite work. The screens load OK, but there is
distortion (flashing lines). I have tried 5-6 different S3 machines,
and 4-5 different monitors. It looks the same each time.

I have discovered that the terminal boot floppy image that I downloaded
uses the directory /opt/itsp/i386 !!! This is different than the info
on the ltsp documentation (opt/ltsp/i386). I changed the directory
name to itsp on the server, and it works, except that the lts.conf seems
to have no effect on what happens at the workstation: the ATI machine
works fine, the S3 machines look the same (poor) no matter what settings
are in the lts.conf.

I have tried X_MODE_O, XF86CONFIG_FILE (with a config file that I know
is good), and I have tried to set different X servers, both the S3 and
the S3V which I downloaded. I have even tried different mouse settings!
It always looks the same. The mouse settings have no effect.

Perhaps it has something to do with the directoery name issue, although
when I change the name of the lts.conf file, the terminal complains.
The terminal only works when the directory is /opt/itsp/i386.

Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

I continue to explore..............

Robert
