Thanks for the comment. I have already tried this approach, but no luck. I have a theory-- the ltsp rpms I downloaded created a directory: /opt/itsp/i386. The XF86_S3 rpm created a new directory: /opt/ltsp/i386 (l not i). I then had to copy the S3 driver to the pre-existing directory. But it still didn't work (fuzzy lines). lstp loads a default S3 driver no matter what I do to the config file in /opt/itsp/i386/etc (I even tried changing the mouse settings), Yet if I rename the lts.conf file (as a test) nothing works at all - so ltsp is seeing the config file.
I wonder if the 3.0 ltsp program uses a different directory than previous versions (2.x)?
Bottom line = something causes the terminals to look for /opt/itsp/i386 rather than /opt/ltsp/i386 as specified in the documentation.
