Hmmm, I might have misunderstood this completely, but I thought that
when the terminal sees /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi, the physical
placing in the file tree on the server is
/opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi

This is from my server:

Looks good to me, and it works on the terminal.

Maybe I'm missing your point? Did you think of something else?
